Brenda Skidmore serves as Senior Vice President, Government & Regulatory Affairs, for SunTrust Bank.  She also serves as President of the SunTrust Foundation.  She began her career with SunTrust in 1975 and has served in a variety of roles over the past 30 years.  She is a graduate of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management at UVA and of the LSU Graduate School of Banking.  She is a member of the Government Relations Council of the Financial Services Roundtable, the Legislative Liaison Action Committee of the American Bankers Association and a member of the Government Relations Committee for the Virginia Bankers Association.  Further, she currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Virginia College Fund, the Richmond SPCA and Virginia Free.  She is also a trustee of the Chesapeake Corporation Foundation.

She previously served in both Governor Mark Warner's and Governor Tim Kaine's administrations. She also serves on the Sorensen Institute's Hampton Roads Regional Advisory Board.
