Ruth Sorensen Singer

Ruth Sorensen Singer was born in 1931 in Lincoln,Nebraska.  She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Nebraska in 1952 and received her M.A. in International Relations from John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies in 1955. 

She married Derek Singer, a Foreign Service Officer, and they spent more than 25 years overseas predominantly in Africa and Latin America. They have four 4 children. Ruth has worked as a speechwriter and an English teacher. She serves as the representative of the Sorensen family on the State Board for the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership.

    Chelsea is one of the first graduates of a Sorensen Youth Program to serve on a regional board (Richmond). She also holds the distinction of being the first youth program graduate to be elected Vice Chairman of a Regional Board. Chelsea recently joined Advantus Strategies, LLC. She is also a leader in the Richmond chapter of the Sorensen Alumni Association.
