Shannon Valentine was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates on January 10, 2006, and has represented the Twenty-Third District through three Sessions in Richmond.  She serves on the Transportation Committee, Courts of Justice Committee, and the Judicial Review Panel. 

Delegate Valentine was appointed by Governor Kaine to serve on the Virginia Interagency Coordinating Council, and was recently named as the Nicki Bazaco Individual Distinction Award winner by the Medical Society of Virginia Alliance, given to the individual who best promotes health education and quality of care through legislation.  Delegate Valentine currently serves on the Medical Society of Virginia’s Foundation Board, the Citizens for Adult Literacy and Learning Advisory Board, and the Board of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia.

•    Graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of Virginia in Economics (1981)
•    Graduated from Education for Ministry, a four-year theology course through Sewanee University's School of Theology (2000)
•    Graduated from Just Faith, a course in Catholic Social Justice (2002)
•    Graduated from The Sorenson Institute at the University of Virginia (2005)

    A co-founder of Virginia21, the nation's first political action committee for college students, Brian has served as an aide to Governor Mark Warner. He is currently the Director of YRichmond, which helps to bring college interns to Virginia's capital city. In September 2007 Brian made the annual "Top 40 Under 40" list in Richmond's Style Weekly magazine.
