Young Appointed to Board of Conservation and Recreation

On August 6th, Governor McDonnell announced that he has appointed Andrea Young, an alumni of both the 2009 Political Leaders Program and the 2010 Winter Candidate Training Program, to the Virginia Board of Conservation and Recreation. Hailing from McLean, VA; Andrea currently serves as a Partner with McLean Capital, LLC.

The Board of Conservation and Recreation advises the Director of the Department of Conservation and Recreation on State Park master plans and substantial amendments. In addition, the Board reviews requests for grants or loans pertaining to outdoor recreation and trail development. The Board conducts fund-raising activities for the State Parks Projects Fund and reviews designations proposed for scenic highways and Virginia byways. Lastly, the Board is available to the Director of the Department of conservation and Recreation, as requested, in duties and responsibilities pertaining to the Department's programs. The Board of Conservation and Recreation performs all duties and responsibilities formerly held by the Board on Conservation and the Development of Public Beaches.
