Jaime Areizaga-Soto Joins USAID's General Counsel Office

The Obama Administration appointed Jaime Areizaga-Soto (PLP '09) as Senior Attorney Advisor to the Office of the General Counsel at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).  USAID General Counsel's office includes over sixty attorneys in the Washington office and more than forty serving in US missions around the world.
 
Jaime is a former White House Fellow, who also served as advisor to the Under Secretary for International Affairs at the US Treasury Department.  He spent more than ten years in private practice, including Hogan & Hartson in its corporate securities practice group and Clifford Chance, where he specialized in cross border infrastructure finance.
 
Jaime is a US Army JAG Lieutenant Colonel in the National Guard and a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and Stanford University School of Law.  He also holds a Masters in Latin American Studies from Stanford.  Jaime, who lives in Arlington, is fluent in Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
