2007 Gala: Dr. Quentin Kidd

Quentin Kidd is an associate professor of political science at Christopher Newport University in Newport News. He specializes in the study of southern politics, civic engagement, and political behavior. The students at CNU have twice named him “Professor of the Year.” In 2003 he was a nominee for the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Texas Tech University and a BA and MA from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Kidd is a faculty member for the Sorensen Institute’s College and High School Leaders Programs, and a past Commissioner on the Virginia Commission for National and Community Service. He served for eleven years in the Army and Army Reserve as a psychological warfare specialist, including a combat tour in Kuwait and Iraq during the Persian Gulf War in 1991 where he was awarded an Army Commendation Medal with “v” device for actions in combat.

    Kenny served in the Virginia House of Delegates from 2002-2012. In September 2012 he was elected to the Senate of Virginia representing the 5th District in Norfolk and Chesapeake.
