2007 Primary Recap
A number of Democratic and Republican primaries were held across Virginia yesterday. Polls closed last night at 7pm.
And here are links for recap coverage by the Washington Post, the Richmond Times-Dispatch, the Charlottesville Daily Progress, and the Associated Press.
Sorensen Executive Director Sean O'Brien commented on the primary results in today's D.C. Examiner.
Among the Sorensen alumni who were running in primary battles, Margie Vanderhye, a graduate of the Political Leaders Program Class of 2006 and the Candidate Training Program Class of 2005, won her party's nomination to run in the 34th District Senate Seat:
In the hotly contested Democratic primary race in the House District
34, activist Margaret Vanderhye beat lawyer Richard Sullivan by only
150 of the 3,300 votes cast. Vanderhye will vie with Republican David
Hunt in the fall to replace Del. Vincent Callahan, R-McLean, who is
retiring after 40 years in the Legislature. Callahan’s district is the
last Republican-held House seat inside the Beltway as Northern Virginia
becomes increasingly Democratic.
And Frank Principi, a graduate of the Candidate Training Program Class of 2007, won his party's nomination for the Woodbridge District seat on the Prince William County Board of Supervisors.
