Coalition Organizer, Virginians for a Healthy Future

DESCRIPTION
Virginians for a Healthy Future (VFHF), a statewide coalition focused on improving the health, well-being and quality of life for all Virginians through public policy to reduce the use of tobacco products, is seeking a part-time Coalition Organizer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Working collaboratively with the VFHF leadership team, and with
guidance from the VFHF Chair, the Coalition Organizer will be
responsible for statewide coalition development and volunteer
engagement. Job responsibilities include:
• Recruiting new organizational partners
• Reengaging past organizational partners
• Frequent and consistent communication with coalition partners and VFHF volunteers
• Maintaining and updating coalition website
• Coordinating and/or providing logistic support and assistance in planning and organizing coalition meetings and events
• Maintain coalition database
• Other tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATION AND ABILITIES
Qualified applicants will have:
• Minimum three years experience in any of the following: community organizing and mobilization; political and or issue campaigns; managing relationships/building alliances and/or account management.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent job experience
• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and work with all levels of community leaders
• Good organizational skills and the ability to plan and act independently on projects with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated computer literacy, particularly in Windows-based applications and e-mail. Basic web-design skills a plus
• Must be outgoing and comfortable approaching people
• Experience working with coalitions a plus
• Ability to travel approximately 50% throughout Virginia. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
CONTRACT PERIOD
This is a nine (9) month grant-funded position, with contract extension possible.
LOCATION
The position is located in the Richmond Metro area.
COMPENSATION
Competitive salary; travel expenses reimbursed; no benefits.
