Federal Policy Analyst, Office of the Governor
Position: Federal Policy Analyst

DESCRIPTION
The Commonwealth is seeking a Federal Policy Analyst for the Virginia Liaison Office (VLO) in Washington, D.C.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The VLO is responsible for:
• Monitoring all Federal/Congressional actions and developments that affect the Commonwealth.
• Advocating on behalf of the Commonwealth and the Governor’s interests in Washington.
• Working with interstate and regional organizations, including the National Governors Association, the Southern Governors’ Association, and the Democratic Governors Association.
• Assisting in the coordination and implementation of Virginia’s Federal and legislative priorities.
• Regularly lobbying Members of Congress, committee and personal staff, and the Administration on various issues.
• Working closely with interstate and regional organizations.
• Maintaining close working relationships with State leaders.
• Drafting memos, talking points, and other materials. Equal share of Administrative tasks for a small office.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal candidates
• will possess exceptional writing and oral communication skills.
• will also be highly organized, detail-oriented self-starters
• will have knowledge of the State and Federal legislative process (including budget and appropriations) and a deep interest in public policy.
• will be able to periodically travel to various parts of the Commonwealth for meetings and assignments.
