Congratulations to Mark Harris, a graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007. Mark was recently appointed to Virginia Beach City Public Schools' Compass to 2015 Steering Committee. The 29-member Committee will oversee the development of a new strategic plan that will guide Virginia Beach City Public Schools from 2009-2015. Mark is one of two student representatives on the committee.
Mark also became the repeat Virginia High School League Division AAA Lincoln Douglas Debate State Champion at the tournament in Lynchburg on April 26 (see photo). This summer Mark will attend Boys State in Lynchburg as well as the Governor's Residential Summer Program for Humanities at the University of Richmond. Mark is a junior at First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach.

A graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007, Ashna Sharan has been accepted to the University of Virginia, the College of William and Mary, and Washington and Lee University. She is currently deciding between UVA and W&L.

Rachel Gutauskas, a graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007, has been accepted to the Women's Leadership Program for U.S. and International Politics at George Washington University, and will be attending school there this fall.
Congratulations Rachel!

Toni Woods of Madison Heights, a graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007, will be attending Catholic University in Washington this fall.
Way to go Toni!

A graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007, Nilam Patel of Roanoke has been accepted Early Decision to Wake Forest University and will be headed to school there this fall.
Congratulations Nilam!

Eesan Balakumar of Yorktown, a graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007, has two great options he is considering for college.
He was accepted Early Decision by Yale University, and he also recently learned that he has been offered a Jefferson Scholarship to the University of Virginia.
Way to go Eesan!

A graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2006, Ellen Marsteller has been accepted to the Hilltop Scholar's Program at Southern Methodist University. This is an honors program for first-year students who have demonstrated strong academic and leadership qualities.
Ellen will also be interning in May at the Virginia Republican Convention, helping to provide support behind the scenes.
Way to go Ellen!

Ted Lichtenberger of Charlottesville, a graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007, is considering some fantastic options for college.
He has been accepted to UVA, Amherst, William and Mary, and Trinity College.
Way to go Ted!
(As a sidenote, Ted's father Art is current a member of the Political Leaders Program Class of 2008).

Congratulations to Michaela Balderston of Alexandria, a gradate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007.
She was accepted Early Decision to Colgate University in New York state and will be headed there this fall to begin her studies.
Way to go Michaela!

Congratulations to George Schaefer of Virginia Beach, a graduate of the High School Leaders Program Class of 2007.
George has been accepted to Catholic University where he will continue his baseball career pitching for the Cardinals.
