From the Sorensen Archives comes this public radio story about our Candidate Training Program. Produced in 2007 and broadcast statewide on With Good Reason, this story— one of the very best ever produced about a Sorensen program— explores the history and mission of our nationally recognized CTP. The Sorensen Institute will host the Spring 2009 class of our Candidate Training Program this coming Thursday May 14 through Sunday May 15 at historic Carter Hall in Millwood.

Sorensen State Advisory Board member Paul Harris, a former member of the Virginia House of Delegates, was a guest today on "Charlottesville—Right Now!" and shared his thoughts on current challenges and the future of the GOP.

Liane Rozzell (PLP 2008), Executive Director of Families and Allies of Virginia's Youth, a recipient of a 2009 Soros Justice Fellowship, was a guest yesterday afternoon on "Charlottesville—Right Now! with Coy Barefoot."
The Sorensen Institute and the Danville Register & Bee hosted an Issues Forum last night in Danville with the three candidates vying for the Democratic nomination for Governor: Brian Moran, Creigh Deeds, and Terry McAuliffe. The event was moderated by Sorensen's Bob Gibson and former Danville Mayor Linwood Wright. This podcast includes the complete audio of the forum, which ran from 7-9pm. Former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger spoke in Charlottesville on Tuesday evening April 13 at an event hosted by the Sorensen Institute and Piedmont Virginia Community College. Mr. Eagleburger spoke quite candidly about U.S. foreign policy "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow." He discussed situations in the Middle East, Afghanistan, China, and the Soviety Union. He also shared his thoughts about the proliferaton of nuclear weapons and terrorism. Mr. Eagleburger was introduced by Sorensen's Executive Director Bob Gibson.

The Sorensen Institute was proud to host its first Legislative Forum for Northern Virginia on Monday evening, April 20. The event was co-hosted by Northern Virginia Community College and sponsored by State Farm. Participants included (left to right in photo) Senator Jill Holtzman Vogel, Delegate David Bulova (PLP 97), Delegate Charniele Herring (PLP 06, CTP 08), Senator Dick Saslaw, Delegate Margi Vanderhye (PLP 06, CTP 05), Delegate Joe May, Delegate Bob Marshall, Delegate Vivian Watts, and Delegate Dave Albo.

On Monday evening, April 13, the Sorensen Institute was proud to co-host a town-hall format Legislative Review with seven Hampton Roads area legislators. The event was held at the Ferguson Center at Christopher Newport University and co-hosted with CNU's Center for Public Policy. State Farm sponsored this event.
