Amber Capron

Events and Development Coordinator

Amber serves as our Events and Development Coordinator. She is responsible for the logistical arrangements for all of the Sorensen Institute's programs and special events. She also plans, develops, and runs the Candidate Training Program. Additionally, Amber provides support in the area of development, helping with donor stewardship and cultivation. She has experience working with non-profit organizations and political campaigns at the local, state and federal level, and has served as campaign manager and finance director.

Amber is a native of Charlottesville. In 2002, she graduated with a BA from the University of Virginia with a double major in Religious Studies and Studies of Women and Gender. She came to the Sorensen Institute in the summer of 2005 as our Office Manager. She is a graduate of the 2004 Political Leaders Program and the 2006 class of Leadership Charlottesville.

    Andy is the Legal Director of the JustChildren Program at the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville. In the summer of 2005 he received the national Child Advocacy Award from the Young Lawyer’s Division of the American Bar Association, and in 2007 he received the Virginia Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award from the Virginia State Bar Association.
