U.Va.'s eighth president Teresa A. Sullivan addressed the Political Leaders Program class at graduation. Ms. Sullivan offered "a few leadership ideas" that apply to university presidents, elected officials, and volunteers alike.

She also took questions from the class on student debt, sustainability, community colleges and distance learning, defense research, and retention of engineering students.

The PLP Class of 2009, proud winners of all three alumni awards at last year's Family Reunion: Most Generous, Most Philanthropic and Most Enthusiastic Sorensen Class.

The third annual Sorensen Family Reunion will be on Saturday, Sept. 17. We will gather on the Airstrip at Bundoran Farm in beautiful Albemarle County (less than a dozen miles south of Charlottesville) from 4 p.m. until dark.

Over 40 Sorensen alumni and friends attended yesterday evening's Legislative Wrap-Up at CNU, co-hosted by the Sorensen Institute and CNU's Wason Center for Public Policy. Panelists Del. Kenny Alexander, Del. Lynwood Lewis, Sen. Tommy Norment and Sen. Frank Wagner took questions from moderator Bob Gibson and the audience on regional issues and the recent General Assembly session. The State Farm-sponsored event will be rebroadcast on Norfolk public radio station WHRV at noon Thursday, June 2.

May 26: Hampton Roads Legislative Wrap-up

This Thursday, May 26, the Sorensen Institute and the Wason Center for Public Policy will host a Legislative Wrap-up with members of the General Assembly from Hampton Roads. The event will be held at 6 p.m. in the Washington Room of CNU's David Student Union. We encourage all Sorensen alumni and board members to attend this event, which is free and open to the public. We will kick off the evening with a reception sponsored by State Farm from 6 to 6:30 p.m.

May 25: Northern Virginia Legislative Wrap-up

This Wednesday, May 25, the Sorensen Institute will host a Legislative Wrap-up with members of the General Assembly from Northern Virginia. The event will be held at 6 p.m. at the Fairfax City Council Chambers. We encourage all Sorensen alumni and board members to attend this event, which is free and open to the public. We will kick off the evening with a reception sponsored by State Farm from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
