Gov. Kaine Appoints Sorensen Grad

Governor Tim Kaine announced today that he had appointed Tony Dale, a graduate of the Candidate Training Program Class of 2008 and a member of the Political Leaders Program Class of 2008, to the Virginia Commission on Youth.

Doug Denneny (CTP 07) is seeking his party's nomination for Congress in Virginia's 11th District (for the seat formerly held by Representative Tom Davis). Doug's candidacy was recently profiled by WUSA Channel 9 (CBS) in Washington. The primary in that district will be held today.

CTP's Parker To Run for Senate Again

Gail Parker, a graduate of the Candidate Training Program Class of 2003, has announced that she has gathered enough signatures to qualify for the U.S. Senate ballot in Virginia. She will run as an Independent Green candidate.

An advocate for increased investment in rail, Gail ran in the 2006 Senate race against Jim Webb and George Allen, earning approximately 1% of the statewide vote.

CTP's Berger to Run for Pittsylvania Treasurer

Kate Berger, a graduate of the Candidate Training Program Class of 2003 and the Danville-Southside Leaders Program Class of 2001, announced today that she will run for Pittsylvania County Treasurer.

Kate is a former member of the Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors—the first woman in history to serve on that board.

CTP Grad is Community Leader in Vienna

Despite an unsuccessful bid for Vienna Town Council, Deborah Brehony, a graduate of the Candidate Training Program Class of 2007, has been very busy as a community leader. She was recently elected President of the Vienna Chapter of AARP, served as precinct chair for Jeannemarie Devolites Davis, and is the 2008 President of the New Providence Republican Women. She was a delegate to the Virginia Federation of Republican Women, and serves as an election officer in Fairfax County.

CTP's Violand-Sanchez Wins Party Nod in Arlington

Emma has won the Democratic endorsement for Arlington County School Board. The election will be held in November.

McClellan and Mills Plan Wedding

Delegate Jennifer McClellan of Richmond is in the midst of planning her wedding with Dave Mills. The two were engaged earlier this year while vacationing in Puerto Rico, and will be married on November 15 at The Homestead in Hot Springs.
