NPR Showcases Sorensen Institute and CLP08

In its national broadcast this afternoon, National Public Radio's All Things Considered program included interviews with members of the College Leaders Program Class of 2008.

Students were interviewed this past Friday by Linda Wertheimer, NPR's Senior National Correspondent, regarding the U.S. Presidential race. The story was titled, "Age Likely to Be Key Factor in Presidential Campaign."

Brownlee Caps Off Southside Program

Former U.S. Attorney John Brownlee, a candidate for Virginia Attorney General in the 2009 election, spoke last night in Danville on the topic of public service and leadership. The event was the final talk for the 07-08 season of the Sorensen Institute's Southside Public Leadership Speakers Series. Over 70 people attended the free event, which was held at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. Click here for news coverage.

Sorensen-Inspired Program Sparks Marketplace Story

A candidate training program operated by the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce in Florida—directly modeled on the Sorensen Institute's Candidate Training Program—was the subject of a story on American Public Media's Marketplace business show.

Titled "Teaching the Business of Politics," the story explored the Chamber's efforts to train members of the business community to run for office in Central Florida.

Virginia General Assembly Honors Sorensen Institute

The Virginia General Assembly has honored the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership during this, the 15th anniversary of our founding. The Assembly passed a resolution praising the work of the Sorensen Institute and hailing it as the national model for bipartisan leadership training.
